WBCC Newsmail 103, Volume 3, August 1, 1998 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Composed with help from members of the Worldwide Bi-metallic Collectors Club and published by Martin Peeters, The Netherlands, Focal Point of the WBCC, martinp@westbrabant.net or martinp@concepts.nl -------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear WBCC members, In this week's WBCC Newsmail very various Bi-metallic news. Very interesting the first article ! I hope you will enjoy reading it !! 1. Bi-metallic of the CNA Edmonton....... by Jim Kindrake, Canada July 29, 1998 was the first day of the CNA in Edmonton. I thought the WBCC would be interested in knowing we are selling a special Bi-metallic token in Commemoration of this event. It is the same dimensions and metals as the WBCC medal one side has a crossed pick and shovel over a gold pan with the legend in the outer rim of this side reading "Join Us on the Trail of '98" (it is 100 years since prospectors on their way to the Klondike to take part in the Yukon Gold Rush passed through Edmonton and really put it on the map as the Gateway to the North) and "1998 CNAConvention July 29-Aug. 2". The other side says "Edmonton Numismatic Society" and "Celebrating Our 45th Anniversary" in the outer rim and "Redeemable by the ENS for $2.00 Expires Jan 1, 2000" in the centreplug. If WBCC members want copies they can send $6.00 Us plus $1 US for postage and handling for each token to: Edmonton Numismatic Society P.O. Box 75024, Ritchie P.O., Edmonton, Alberta Canada T6E 6K1 2. Bi-metallic German MTT...........by Martin Peeters, Netherlands The German City Munster has struck their own Bi-metallic Municipal Trade Token from 3 to 31 March 1998. The Perth mint produces mainly collector items, usually in gold and silver. They have been producing the bullion coins with privy marks. Paul has sent me a copy of "This month's Star letter" as Coin News call it - this means that the Editor has chosen it as the month's best reader's letter. --Quote Now you have e-mail I must bring to your attention the Worldwide Bi-metallic Collectors Club (WBCC). This is a truly worldwide, internet based, club for collectors of Bi-metallic coins, tokens etc. A weekly Newsmail is sent to all members and a number of other interested parties e.g. mints, dealers and publications. I am as yet the only member in the U.K. out of a total membership of over 100. The club promotes trading of coins etc. and of information on this subject. Also there is a website with more images of Bi-metallics than any other website and a quarterly "catalogue" listing all pieces known. The site is at: http://www.geocities.com/RodeoDrive/7513/wbcc/wbcc.html With the first appearance of circulating Bi-metallic coins in the U.K. due very soon, surely collectors here will soon show more interest, I realise that most and not all of your readers are in the U.K. Paul Baker. --Unquote --Remark of WBCC Focal Point: Well Paul, you did a great job doing this, thanks 16.
