One of the latest controversies between the European Union and Turkey has been brought about by the conversion of the ancient Orthodox Basilica of Saint Sofia, located in Istanbul, which until a few days ago was a museum, into a mosque. Far from trying to soften positions, the Turkish government has decided to mint several commemorative coins, one of them Bi-metallic and destined for circulation to celebrate the reopening of the now-Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque.
