3. WBCC Encasment Project ... by Rod Sell, Australia

This time last year we were waiting on the introduction of the Euro and I was gearing up to trying to encase the Bi-metallic euros.

Well it has been an interesting and busy year for the WBCC Encasement project. I did manage to get a good supply of most of the euro coins, though some of the years were difficult and I am still looking for the Finland 2002 2 Euro and France 2002 1 & 2 Euro coins. Towards the middle of the year we started to also encase the different Thailand 10 Baht Bi-metallics and this has developed with the 6 bi-metallics issued in 2002 making a total of 21 different Thailand encased bi-metallics.

We also started encasing the USA State Quarters and the P and D quarters of the first 4 years (20 coins) have now been released. This is a long term project as the coins are only released at 5 per year, so I will take another 6 years to complete. I thought you may like to know the numbers encased this year.
* Australian Test Tokens 17 sets 34 coins
* Euros 349 sets or 698 coins
* Thailand 10 Bahts 170 coins
* US Quarters 246 coins
We are now waiting for the 2003 dated euros to appear. Details with images of all these coins can be seen in the Encased Euros, Encased Quarters and Encased Thailand pages:
* encased euro.
* encased quarter.
* encased thai.

Pierre Frédy, Baron de Coubertin, was born in Paris in 1863. His family originated in Normandy where he spent many of his summers in the family Château de Mirville, near Le Havre. His family wanted him to make the military his career and he showed promise in the field of politics, but neither of these interested him. He was interested in reforming the French Education System. Coubertin is featured on the French 20 Francs Bi-metallic of 1994 but not for his work in the field of education. In what field is Pierre de Coubertin honored?

7. WBCC Auction 51 Accepting Lots ... by Rod Sell, WBCC Auction Provider

Auction 51 is now accepting lots. Items listed can be seen at: Auction 51. Members will now have to bid within incremental amounts. So for lots of $1 to $10 the bids will have to be increased by 50c or lots of 50c. See the increments at the top of the page.

If a member wants to place a maximum bid it will be shown in brackets at the end of the line. Unless otherwise advised the next bid up will be listed, however if you want to place a higer bid make sure you mention it. I know that lets others know what the maximum is. However it is better than the previous method where the maximum bid was listed.

If you have any comments or suggestions please let me know them. I am trying to make our auctions as fair as possible to all members, buyers as well as sellers.

"See you" next week,
