8. Your opimion needed ... by Rod Sell, Auction Proider

I need you opinions on the bidding process of our auctions. In the past we have not had any maximum bid and what was bid was listed. Many members who wanted a coin and could not place a bid near the end of the auction, had to place bids much higher than the current bid to try to obtain the lot.

I had several complaints that though they bid high, their bid should only be at the next bid up, like in ebay or mail bid sales. To try to assist this request the current maximum bid procedure was introduced, so that i can easily follow any maximum bids and update the bids accordingly.

I now have had several complaints that the maximum bid is intimidating and that members would not outbid the maximum and don't want to raise the current bid.

In a manual system it gets very busy in the last few hours trying to list the bids and update the page, so members who have been out bid can make another bid.

The 2 options we have is to go back to our original process or our current maximum process. The only other option is to stop the auctions altogether. I would appreciate you express your views and we will use the process favoured by the majority.

I would also like to mention that if any member makes an excess bid in an attempt to scare off any other bids. I will make a bid to the value of the lot, so as to protect the value to the seller. E-mail me at: Rod Sell.
