Dear WBCC members and non WBCC members,

2. Bi-metallic 2 Euro from Martin Peeters, Netherlands

The following information I recived from Bernhard Urban, department marketing of the Austria Mint, about the Austria Bi-metallic 2 Euro 2005 commemorate "50 Years StateTreaty":
6.880.000 pieces of 7 Mio. Bi-metallic 2-Euro-coins "50 Years StateTreaty" in total will be issued in circulation quality via banks and coin-dealers. 100.000 additional coins will be part of our annual coin sets in special uncirculated quality (May 11, 2005), 20.000 coins more will be in the coin sets in proof quality (October 12, 2005). The coin sets can also be ordered at the Austrian Mint (Email:
So there will be 7 Mio. Bi-metallic 2-Euro-coins "50 Years StateTreaty" in total. Next year we plan to return to the usual "Bertha von Suttner"-design of the Bi-metallic 2-Euro.

3. Bi-metallic 100 Dinar from Wolfgang Schuster, Austria
Based on information from a numismatic contact in Khartoum, who has visited the director of the Central Bank of Sudan some time ago, I correctly reported in an earlier WBCC Newsmail that a Bi-metallic 100 Dinar of Sudan coin has been planned.
Now I got updated news from Khartoum regarding  this Bi-metallic 100 Dinar issue, of which there exists at least one pattern: plans for this issue have been shelved, since the peace agreement with the south foresees in the creation of a new common currency, the New Pound, which will be equal to the Dinar. The sample 100 Dinar Bi-metallic pattern strike which my contact in khartoum has seen at the central bank director unfortunately was not available for a picture.  The introduction of new currency for all of Sudan will take more than two years to be completed, if the new currency will have a Bi-metallic denomination is not known.
