Gemeinsame 2 Euro Gedenkmünze aller Staaten in 2007

Common design for 2 euro coin in 2007
On May 5th, 2006, the Europe Day of the Council of Europe, Jean Claude Juncker, President of the Eurogroupe, the informal meeting of Finance ministers of the Euro area, and Joaquín Almunia, member of the European  Commission, unveiled a proposal for a common design for a 2 euro coin in 2007 which could be issued by all 12 euro member countries, and possibly Slovenia as well. The common design is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, signed on March 25th, 1957, which established the European Economic Community in 1958, and shows the signatures on the treaty document upon the pavement pattern of the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome (The text "issuing country" on the design would of course have to be replaced by the respective member country name). Total mintage would be several million pieces. No additional information was available at this time on the project.
