2. WBCC representing The Open Day of The Mint.....by Frans Dubois, Netherlands
Last Saturday, June 9, the Royal Dutch Mint opened the gates for the 15th "Open Day".
This yearly event is always one of the numismatic highlights of the year and thousands of people visit the Mint that day. One of the most important reasons for this visit is for most of the collectors the issue of the coinbox. All 3,500 coinboxes were sold at the end of the day. This was the only moment that the rolls for 2007 were available and the mintage is also very low again! Less than 900.000 one and two euro coins of 2007!
The WBCC was again invented by the organisation (..."a numismatic event like this without the WBCC? That's impossible!", was one of the reactions)
Martin was just back from his trip to Ecuador and still had a jetlack but would not miss this happening. We were at the Mint early in the morning to prepair our booth and stayed till the end of the event at 16.00.
We talked to a lot of interested people, we met some members and had a great time!
Next event where the WBCC will be is in September where we will be present at the "Noordelijke Munmanifestatie"
