5. Bi-metallic reproductions.. by Sean Moffatt, USA
The reason for my email is that I need to announce as of Monday July 16th,
2007, after 19+ years of service, I will no longer affiliated with Hoffman
Mint. I am now the Operations Manager and partner with Striker Token and
Medal of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Hoffman Mint was sold in May of 2006.
In January '07 the new owners decided to close the California facility and
move some of the equipment to their facility in Florida, the rest was sold
at auction. I closed the California facility in March of this year. None
of the experienced Hoffman crew were kept by the new owners. During this
time I have interviewed with and visited with several other minting firms
and landed with Striker because of the potential the organization shows as
well as I am now an owner. Striker has emerged from what once was the Gallery
Mint. Striker purchased the assets of Gallery mint in November 2006. Striker
is making the transition from the non-profit entity that was Gallery Mint
into a full for profit company. Striker is still developing its new product
lines, (which I will strongly promote Bi-metallic products).
During my time at Hoffman I did manage to produce 1 bi-metal coin. It was
the square 2500 Dinar for the 2006 Kurdistan set. The 2500 Dinar was a square
Bi-metallic piece. It had a copper "ring" with a brass center. It was posted
in the new releases at one time.
My new company has 2 bi-metallic items available.
First is a reproduction 1792 Silver center cent.
The other is a Rennisance Bi-metallic keytag/medal.
These are available through our website; http://www.striker-mfg.com/ , or
you can just email me and I can make arrangments.
