1. World Money Fair 2008 in Berlin...by Martin Peeters, WBCC
Focal Point
I'm already looking forward to the World Money Fair 2008 and the WBCC participation
in this major numismatic event scheduled to take place from February 1st
to 3rd, 2008.
Now I wonder which WBCC members will visit this event too. Till now the following
WBCC members will be there and will be at the WBCC Booth: Frans Dubois, Max
Aiello, Cliff Anderson and myself. We will stay at the Park-Hotel-Blub. So
if you will come to Berlin and visit the WBCC Booth, please let me know.

This message I posted also in WBCC Newsmail #590, till now no reactions.

Germany

6. Bi-metallic restrikes from Italy...by Gerhard Schoen, Germany
Do you already know the silver and gold replica pieces of the Italian Bi-metallic
500 Lire 1982 and 1000 Lire 1997 coins?
--Remark WBCC member Max Aiello form Italy:
This collection (Storia della Lira - Lira History) started five years ago
with the 1st serie of Italian Lira coins since 1946. There is the silver
collection and the gold collection. All the coins have written on the word
COPIA (SAMPLE), because they are only medals. Now, they are going to issue
the 5th serie, with the Lit. 500 and Lit. 1000 Bi-metallic coins. The price
of the series is very very high.
7. Bi-metallic Euro nations series #4..... by Cliff Anderson, USA
The last 3 weeks have shown 6 of several images of Bi-metallic silver and
gold proof commemorative pieces, issued by "Het Nederlandsche Muntenhuis":
http://www.muntenhuis.nl (not
to be confused with the Royal Dutch Mint). The following 2 pieces are for
Germany.
Note that the right piece, like the others previously shown, is a silver
core surrounded by a gold ring. But, unlike the other previously shown,
the left one is the reverse, that is with a gold center with a silver ring.
The right one shows the famous landmark Hindenburg Gate and a victory statue.
In the middle band, six German euro coin images surround the larger 002 euro
medal. The bottom layer shows the Reichstadt building. The left one shows
other views of the Hindenburg Gate and the Reichstadt, plus the World Cup
Soccer trophy, emblematic of those 2006 soccer championship games played
all over Germany. The middle tier again depicts German euro coins surround
the images of the 2001 German gold 200 euro piece. And the bottom tier shows
an ancient coin press (?), a scene of the Rhine (?) River, a portrait (Bach?),
a musical score, and Einstein's great mathematical equation: E=mc2.
cannot explain why the German pieces are designed the way they are.
8. Bi-metallic offer in Ebay...by Martin Peeters, Netherlands
The following offer I saw in Ebay:

this?
a. Snake
b. Elephant

Answer to Bi-metallic Quiz Game question #592.
A Bi-metallic coin dated 2006 was produced by a clever Belgian coin dealer,
and appears to be an official issue by the government of Senegal but is not
legal tender. Senegal is one of several countries that comprise a Western
African Monetary Union. One side of the coin shows a map of the region of
Africa which includes Senegal. What animal is superimposed on that map?
a. Lion
b. Elephant
c. Wildebeest
d. Giraffe
The correct answer for question #592 is b; Elephant.
WBCC Quiz Game Prize
A Bi-metallic prize will be awarded to a member who correctly answers the
