WBCC
Newsmail 685 Volume 15, September 26, 2009 Composed
with help from members of the
Worldwide Bi-metallic Collectors Club (WBCC), and weekly published by: Martin Peeters, Netherlands, Focal Point of the WBCC Past Newsmails can be found at http://www.wbcc-online.com/newsmail/wbccnews.html Dear WBCC members and non WBCC members, I have created a new page called PNC.
PNCs are Philatelic & Numismatics Covers. In recent years Post Offices have combined with their local Mints to produce First Day and Promotional Covers that include a coin or medal. No doubt these were to increase revenue from both stamp and coin collectors. Great Britain has produced the most, with covers from the Royal Mint as well as private issuers. The new page can be seen at http://wbcc-online.com/pnc/pnc.html The PNCs with bimetallic coins listed, are from Australia, GB and Hong Kong by a UK company. If you know of any others with Bi-metallic coins please let me know with an image if possible. rodsell@rodsell.com 2. The WBCC at the Largest
coin fair of the year...by Frans Dubois, Netherlands
Like several years
before on the 3rd Saturday of September, last weekend
the largest coin fair of the year was hold in Assen. The WBCC was also present and we, Martin and Frans, did a
lot of p.r. for our club. No new issues on
the tables but from Hakim we received a new date (2009) of the 100 fils
coin. Two new tokens, a Mintmasters
Conference medal from Helsinki and a medal from the Italian Mint,
Torino were found.
The fact that we met a lot
of people made it a successful day for the WBCC! Thanks to Wouter Beerenkamp who organized this coin show
and who invited us again. Next year with the 10th Anniversary of
the Northern Coin Event will be held on Saterday 18 September 2010

The European Year of
Creativity, 2009 has as its slogan; "imagine-create-innovate".
A Bi-metallic Two Euro
coin has been issued by San Marino to commemorate the year. In the
foreground, enclosed within twelve stars of the European community, the
coin depicts a composition made up of elements which symbolize human
genius.
On a page of the book
there's a spiral created by Leonardo Fibonacci, made up of a sequence
of numbers where each successive number is the sum of the preceding
two. Above, the compass, symbol of scientific topics; the three
feathers located on the left, besides representing the Republic of San
Marino, are also the symbol of humanistic studies. The two beakers on
the right represent research and thus, innovation.
