5. Bi-metallic 5 Euro from Finland...by Hans Busec, Switzerland
Someone gave me this bimetallic 5 Euro-Medal which he wants to sell. It is 38 mm in diameter, CuNi ring and brass center. Plain edge with inscription: NLT-EJ LAGLIGT BETALNINGSMEDEL - EI LAILLINEN MAKSUVALINE
I have no idea of its possible value and are open to any reasonable offer. You can put a line and picture in the bulletin - if not already published
When I got one in 1996 from Lauren Benson, it was worth $12US, but the 2007
"Unusual World Coins" catalog values it at $18.50.
Since its very low mintage is 50,000, I think a fair asking price should be
at least $25.

7. Bi-metallic in Ebay.......by Martin Peeters, The Netherlands
Saw in Ebay:

The seller says:

NAU 5 AMEROS PROOF COIN

Specifications:

Country/Region: North American Union (NAU)

Denomination: 5 Amero (not legal tender)

Mintage: Limited Edition Prototype (unknown)

Material: Cupro-Nickel (silver) & Brass (Gold)  (bi-metal)

Strike: Mirror Proof  (deep cameo surfaces)

Weight: 11.5 grams (.4 ounce)

Diameter: 30mm

Edge: Reeded

The obverse of the coin features the denomination written as "5 Amero", overlapped on both metals. The word "Amero" is shown over an ebgraving of the continent of North America. There is an Amero symbol under the "O" in Ameron, as well as 2 stars with an "A" inside which stands for Amero. There are 3 vertical lines with stars on the ends symbolizing the 3 Nations which make up the Union of North America, the USA, Canada & Mexico.

In the silver colored portion of the reverse there are stars around the edge like numbers on a clock. With a symbol representing Mexico at 9, a symbol representing the USA at 12 & a maple leaf symbol at 3 to represent Canada. The gold center features familiar symbols & mottos from all 3 nations of the NAU's current currencies. This coin is not legal tender, it is fantasy coinage. Keep reading for additional information about the NAU & the AMERO.

A Union of the US, Canada & Mexico has been planned & talked about for many years & a World currency is already in the works. There has been discussion of a regional local currency called the "Amero" which would be the official currency of the NAU, replacing the US & CAN Dollars & the MEX Peso. Basically North America becomes one entity like the European Union & just as Europe now only has 1 currency, the "Euro", the Union of North America would have 1 currency, the "Amero".

NAU as described from the interweb: "The North American Union (NAU) is a theoretical regional union of Canada, Mexico & The United States similar in structure to the European Union, including a common currency called the Amero. The idea has been discussed & proposed in academic & scholarly circles, either as a union or as a North American community as proposed by the Independent Task Force on North America. The amero is the appellation given to what would be the North American Union's counterpart to the Euro".
