2. Bi-metalic 2 Dollar fom Canda...by Frns Woons, Canada

Last week I received a 2010 proof (silver) Canadian Bi-metallic $ 2 coin (toony) I had bought on eBay. The funny colours are due to internal reflections within my scanner. I found that proof (and specimen) coins are difficult to scan.

The Royal Canadian Mint produces pretty well every year toonies in four qualities:

* proof

* Specimen (I sent you images of this variety a few days ago)

* brilliant uncirculated (in sets)

* business strikes (for circulation)

While the first one is in silver (with gold plated centre), the other three are in base metals. Thus far 17 different proof toonies (1996 – 2010) and 17 different specimen toonies can be collected.

3. Bi-metallic 1 and 2 Euro 2010 from Finland...by Kari Hurskainen, Finland

4. Bi-metallic 5 Pesos 1992 Error from Mexico....by Frans Woons, Canada

Today I received an error Bi-metallic coin in the mail.
I had bought the coin on eBay. It is a Mexican 5 New Pesos coin dated 1992. It seems that this coin has an imperfect plug. This resulted into an imperfect coin. See ESTADOS UNIDOS on the obverse and below N$5 on the reverse.At first I thought this might be a “see through” coin but that’s not the case.
