7. Super Quiz #20…by
Jack Hepler, USA
Circulation Bi-metallic
coins may not be found in which country (s) bordering the Black Sea?
Answer to Super
Quiz #19.
The 2005 Bi-metallic 1000
Bolivares shows the National Shield from the Coat of Arms which is not
the same
as the shield in the design of the 2007 Bi-metallic Bolivar. What is the difference, why is there a
difference and which Coat of Arms is the official one?
(Three answers are required)
- The horse is
facing the same way on both but running in different directions.
- The first
design was artistic but counter to traditional symbolism.
- The second
(2007) shield is the correct design.
(per
Wikipedia)
The
coat of arms was
originally composed by Sir Robert Ker Porter, member of the British
Legacy in
Caracas and the famous artist, Mr. Carmelo Fernandez.
The change was made in the early 21st century and changed
the
position of the horse (above arms), as well as the flag (the flag has
now 8
stars).
In March 2006
the National Assembly approved
changes
to the coat of arms and the flag
which were made official on March 12, 2006, Flag Day.
Prior to 2006, the horse was running to its left with its head turned
to its
right. In heraldic theory this is a mistake because all "beasts" must
face dexter (to their right or the viewer's left.
