Answer to Bi-metallic Quiz Game question #783
One patriot of the War for Independence is well known and has appeared on many commemorative coins of Mexico.  He was a poor cowboy until the age of 25 when he decided to enter the priesthood.  His priestly career was mostly among Indians.  But in 1811, he joined the forces of Hidalgo and then took over a leadership position when Hidalgo was executed by Spanish Loyalists.  He lead the independence war in the southern parts of Mexico until, finally, he was captured and executed on 22 December 1815.  Who was this Mexican patriot whose image appears on a Bi-metallic Five Pesos dated 2010.

The answer to this question is Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon.
