of the Academy of Plato.

Akademeia dates back to Plato's concept of the Academy modern. Academy (in Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια) was the name by
which it was known the school founded by Plato in Athens. The Academy, founded in 387 BC, existed, albeit through
various phases, until after the death of Philo of Larissa. Although various philosophers continued to teach Plato's
philosophy in Athens during the Roman era, it was only in the early fifth century that a new school was founded as a
center of neo-Platonism, to be permanently closed by the Emperor Justinian in 529. The Academy was for all the age old
symbol of Platonic philosophy and even Plutarch, in the Imperial period, and thinkers who called himself as he was
heavily influenced by Plato as "academic".
