The earliest mention of this town called it "Usolje-na-Kamskom" and dates from 1430, in connection with the
discovery of huge salt deposits in the area. The name of the town is derived from the Russian words for salt and
the Kama River, which flows through the town.
From 1573 to 1923, the town was the administrative center of the Perm Governorate.  In the mid-17th century,
the town became an industrial center of copper casting. The town is one of the few in Russia that preserved
authentic Russian culture throughout the years of the USSR.
As part of the Ancient Towns series, a commemorative Bi-metallic 10 Roubles was issued in 2011.
What is the name of this town?
